Adobe Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP)

As part of the new video workflow we need to map the use of XMP in creating metadata from the Canon quicktime files thru editing in the field, into Bit Central, into home editing and thru output. How is Adobe Bridge used to create and insert this data. Is an external file created or is the info embeded? Many, many more questions coming up.
